Visits to the prison were permitted weekly - Saturdays to see Ezzat and Roya, and Wednesdays to see Enayat. They were done in specified cabins which were separated by a thick glass barrier. Talking was through special telephones that were listened to by the prison staff. They would last only about 5 or 10 minutes. On the 18th of Day, Ezzat and Roya were transferred to Adelabad prison, and on 22nd of Day Enayat was visited at Adelabad prison. In these visits the prisoners’ detachment, sincerity and submission to the Will of God, were obvious, as was remembered about Enayat.
“According to those prisoners who were with him in Adelabad Prison and later released, he spoke little, but when he did, he always talked about steadfastness and patience, with reverence always apparent in his face and manners. He always behaved in this manner, he would talk about the Will of the Almighty, and that ‘He would do what He wished’, always thankful.”
The state of health and medical treatment within the prison was not ideal, and prisoners with conditions such as ulcers, headaches, heart problems or other pains suffered a lot. Once Ezzat had the flu and had severe shortness of breath. Roya had to nurse her back to health and still after a few weeks she had not fully recovered.
The heavy news of three other Bahai’s being executed had reached some of the male prisoners and families. At the next visit with Enayat, it felt like a farewell visit for both sides:
We were all anxious about how the prisoners were feeling, and how should we behave. It was during that visit that Baba said:
‘Anyway I will say good bye to you, perhaps next time I won’t be here. Ask forgiveness from all relatives and friends, and be happy with God’s will. Give my greetings to everyone and tell them I am thinking of them.’
I had the lump in my throat, but like Baba, I controlled myself. Then Baba asked about Saeid, Nahid and Vahid. Then when the visit was ended, he raised both his hands, blow kisses, said good bye, and as usual in front of everyone else, left the visiting hall and only God knows how I was feeling.”
A week had passed but the women prisoners still did not know who were the dear individuals were. On Saturday it also turned out to be a farewell visit, as all the women prisoners were given the impression that they too were going to have the same fate any day.
